Our Principles

1. The Soul of Craftsmanship

Today, many things are produced mechanically — faster, cheaper, and interchangeable.
Yet the warmth and soul of true craftsmanship live on in every one of our rugs.

Every knot, every colour, every pattern carries a story:
the story of a person who has invested skill, patience, and heart into their work.

2. Responsibility with Heart

Ganapatee Fairtrades stands — as our name suggests — for genuine fair trade.
We believe that traditional, environmentally responsible, and handmade craftsmanship must be:

  • protected
  • respected
  • and carried into the future

Artisans in Nepal work with great dedication,
often under far more modest conditions than those found in Europe.

3. Step by Step Towards Better Working Conditions

Our goal is to support these artisans in creating a more dignified, comfortable, and safe working environment —
always aligned with their individual needs.

This heartfelt project not only supports those who are weaving today,
but also encourages younger generations to learn, preserve, and continue this valuable craft.

4. 5–10% Returned Directly to the Artisans

The larger the rug, the greater the contribution:

5–10% of every sale flows directly back into training, workshop improvements, and fair compensation.

This support reaches the artisans directly — without intermediaries — exactly where it is needed most.

5. GoodWeave Certified – Fairness Guaranteed

All of our rugs are GoodWeave certified, which stands for:

  • no child labour
  • fair working conditions
  • transparency throughout the supply chain
  • respect for every individual involved in the creation of a rug

6. Gratitude

Ganapatee Fairtrades extends heartfelt thanks to all our customers.
Your trust makes it possible for this craft to live on — and to be passed on to future generations.
